What Is the SnowGrave Route?

The SnowGrave Route, also known as the Weird Route, is an alternate path through Deltarune Chapter 2. It drastically changes the story, characters, and boss fights. In this route, Kris and the player push Noelle to use her ice magic violently, leading to a much darker version of the chapter.

This route is optional and is considered the closest thing Deltarune has to a "genocide"-style run. It is strongly recommended to complete a normal playthrough first.

Requirements

• You must be playing Chapter 2.
• Noelle must temporarily join your party in the Cyber Field. This happens naturally during the normal story.
• You must actively choose to make Noelle use her ice magic against enemies instead of sparing them.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Cyber Field encounters: When Noelle is in the party, enemies will appear. Choose to fight and defeat every enemy in your path with Noelle's IceShock spell. Do not spare anyone.
2. Keep moving forward: After clearing all encounters in an area, a special sound cue plays, and the screen darkens slightly. This confirms you are on the SnowGrave path.
3. Berdly encounter: When you reach Berdly at the end of the Cyber Field, choose the violent options. Noelle will use a powerful ice spell on him, freezing him solid.
4. Queen's Mansion changes: The mansion is now empty of most NPCs. The atmosphere is darker, and the story focuses on Noelle's descent.
5. Spamton NEO: In the SnowGrave Route, you will face Spamton NEO as a mandatory story boss rather than an optional secret boss. The fight is similar but has unique dialogue and story implications.
6. Ending: The chapter ends with a drastically different cutscene that sets up later events in the Weird Route.

Consequences & Differences

• Berdly is frozen and does not appear in the same way in later chapters.
• Noelle's character arc changes. She becomes colder and more conflicted.
• Castle Town is different. Some recruits and NPCs will not appear.
• The Weird Route continues into Chapter 3 and beyond if you maintain the right conditions.

Tips for the Route

• Save a separate file for the SnowGrave Route so you can still experience the normal route.
• If you accidentally spare an enemy, you may fall off the route. Pay attention to the visual and audio cues.
• The route is emotionally heavy. Consider experiencing it when you are familiar with the characters.
